Chrysler gets three retained-value awards

Chrysler has won three categories out of 27 in Edmund’s 2014 Best Retained Value® awards. The winners were the Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Challenger, and Ram ProMaster.

Honda swept the category by taking top honors for the Honda brand in non-luxury and Acura in luxury, as well as compact sedan, luxury compact sedan, luxury midsize sedan, luxury wagon, and minivan. Chrysler Town & Country did get an “honorable mention” in the latter category, along with Toyota Sienna; Chrysler also got honorable mentions for Chrysler 300 (Large Sedan), Chrysler 200 (Midsize Convertible), and Ram 1500 (Large Truck).

The only other domestics to lead categories were Cadillac CTS-V (luxury midsize coupe), Camaro (midsize convertible), and Ford F-350 (large heavy duty truck). Chrysler led as many retained-value awards as GM and Ford combined, though imports still dominated.

Higher resale values usually make leases more attractive, allowing companies to give better terms or make higher profits. By gradually reducing its fleet sales, increasing standard equipment, and cutting back on incentives, Chrysler has been working to increase its resale values.
