The new Hellcat engine now rated at 707hp

Dodge has just turned up the heat in the new round of horsepower wars with Ford and Chevrolet. In a repeat of the 1970’s when Dodge was the last to offer a ponycar. They showed that being late to the party was ok as long as you brought along the most powerful engine available at the time….the legendary 426 HEMI. With the 2015 Challenger SRT, Dodge is once again offering customers the most powerful engine available…the new Hellcat engine…with 707 horsepower. The gantlet has been dropped at the feet of both Ford and Chevrolet.

Dodge just released power ratings for the long-awaited Hellcat V8 engine. They exceeded past estimates of around 650-680 hp and up to 640 lb-ft of torque, coming in at a stunning 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft. Buyers of the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat can limit themselves or other drivers to “just” 500 horsepower (more than the 392’s top rating) by using the black key fob, reserving the red fob (with 707 horsepower) for racing or street, (when you need to get the ice cream home quickly).

The new 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat now holds many firsts…the most powerful Dodge V8 ever; most powerful Challenger ever; and, last but definitely not least, the most powerful factory muscle car ever. It’s “in your face” Ford and Chevy!

The 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat will begin arriving at Dodge dealerships sometime this quarter. They will be built in limited numbers which means dealers will add a premium to an already heavy price tag. Something buyers saw when the 2008 Challenger SRT came out. Just don’t expect to see a lot of Hellcats roaming the streets preying on Camino’s and Mustang’s as many of these Hellcats will end up being locked away in someone’s garage as a collector’s car. This is really too bad as the Hellcat is meant to be driven…not locked up in “automotive prison”.

That IS awesome, however my S/C 300 SRT is at 663 RWHP; wouldn't want to drop in power ~LOL~
