Thanks so very much to all those that chimed in ........ almost 6 months later, things aren't good.
Just got home from visiting Mom at the hospital (she had to be taken to the ER last night for lot of stomach pain and vomiting - this morning I find out she has a full blockage this time) .... prognosis doesn't seem good at all .... because of the full blockage in her intestine, the Dr's are very worried of a possible rupture in there, caused by pressure from a build-up of the bile that our bodies constantly produce, a rupture which usually leads to death.
The main things for them to concentrate on now are to manage her pain and make sure that the stuff in her stomach gets sucked out via the tube they stuck up her nose.
I spoke with my oldest brother tonight and he said he is gonna try to visit this weekend with his wife, they live in MD near my other brother and his wife.
I really feel like the end is near, especially when the Dr's are starting to ask about possible "Do Not Resuscitate" orders .....
Needless to say, it's a very sad time for us right now ... my Mom has done nothing but good her whole life, a great person and a great Mother that I regret to say I've taken for granted on occasion and I haven't always treated the way I should have ... now I'm sitting here, barely able to type in-between flowing rivers of tears at the thought of her being no more ...

Went to see Mom in the hospital tonight and I couldn't believe it ... she couldn't even recognize me ... it took over 2 hrs for her to know that it's me standing there ... yesterday I saw her and while she had some pain, she was still able to talk OK ... this morning I spoke with her and she said she had a headache ... by 4PM they're telling me that she woke up VERY confused, not remembering her Social Worker that she had been working with for about a yr and a half, and then by 6:15PM when I got there she couldn't even recognize ME. She threw up 3-4 times during the 3 hrs I was there, and I left while she was sleeping ... she finally looked peaceful and I didn't wanna disturb her.
Tomorrow they're gonna be doing a procedure to help her kidneys which are currently blocked and becoming injured ... possibly causing the huge confusion she's going through ... they're still gonna do more tests tonight to try to figure out what's causing this sudden memory loss ...
Just got word from the Dr about Mom ... her kidney functions are getting worse again, even though she's had the stents installed to help them ... she said they're very concerned about her and will be doing more tests overnight ... her pain medication was increased to help her manage the increased abdominal pain she's having ...
