Need all the prayers I can get ...
... for my Mother.
Tomorrow she's going in for surgery to try to remove a pretty large tumor in her colon ... large enough that it's now no longer letting anything pass through.
She had a surgery in 2005 for colon cancer in the same exact area, and now 4 yrs later it's returned and it's bigger.
She's been battling different forms of cancer for about 8 years, with pretty much never-gone-away chemo treatments, all different kinds of it.
My Mom right now actually looks very good, but the pain gets very bad if she doesn't get her medication. She's gonna be 62 next month.
11 months ago I had a death in the family when cancer took my only other relative in the area, my Uncle (Dad's brother) away from my Mother and I ... I have 2 older brothers (married) and a re-married father I don't speak to, but they live in MD, and I live in MA, and visits have been very few and far between ...
It's been only my Uncle, my Mom and myself as the only family of ours in the area, for about 15 years now, and my Uncle was basically my Step-Dad for that time, since I don't speak to my real father for reasons I won't go into here.
His loss was a huge hit to me and my Mom, he was our family's pillar of strength ... and now he's gone.
That hit me very hard and I still haven't fully recovered.
And now for my Mother to be going through such a big operation ... please pray for her.
Please don't speculate on how long she might have or tell stories of how long other people lasted after this kind of operation ... I need to stay as positive and strong through this as possible, and I don't think that that would help.
Thank you.
- Gabe

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your Mom Gabe. My mother also battled cancer so I'm familiar with the ups and downs of the process and the emotional toll it takes.
I hope all goes well and she has a speedy recovery.

Thanks Rick ... it's been very hard to think about this whole situation and not lose it ... I'm about to get ready and head into work for a couple minutes then head down to the hospital ...
It's gonna be a long day.

Thanks everybody .... the surgery started at 10:30 and it was estimated to take about 3 hrs ... it's now been 3 hrs and I'm hoping for an update soon.
I've been here since 7AM ... they took her at 9AM for anesthesia ... now 1:30PM ... certainly hoping to see her again soon, even though she should be out of it due to the meds ...
And Jim, needless to say, I wish you all the best.

Just got an update from the O.R. ..... she's stable, everything's going well, just taking longer than expected, which probably should've been expected, itself.
